Young for Our Universe – Use your Power (YOU UP) is an exchange program between young people from Benin and Germany on sustainable development themes and concrete strategies for action against climate change. The exchange program will take place online and in person over a one-year period between November 2022 and November 2023 and will include several phases, including two 20-day exchange trips to each country. At the end of the program, participants will develop a concept for advocacy work on how governments can take into account youth climate change mitigation efforts. It will enable youth to understand governmental climate change provisions in the North (in Germany) and in the South (in Benin), in order to develop methods for active implementation at the state and civil society level. In addition, the program aims to open up other perspectives by making activists, especially environmental activists from Africa, Latin America and Asia, who are not sufficiently known, more visible.
